Celebrate Earth Day at the Rockland Harborside Cleanup!
Saturday, April 20
9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Harbor Park, 1 Pleasant Street, Rockland
Help collect litter around our community’s waterfront for a cleaner Rockland Harbor and waterfront. You’ll be provided with all the tools you need. Coffee and a snack will be served in the morning, and a community cookout for all volunteers will be held at noon.
Please register for this event in advance. To register:
- Sign up to volunteer. You can sign up individually, or as part of a group.
- When you sign up, you’ll be prompted to sign an Injury Waiver and General Release form. All volunteers are required to sign this form. If you’re not able to sign the form online, you can download it here, and email completed copies to sustainability@rocklandmaine.gov.
On the day of the Cleanup, please wear or bring:
- Closed-toe shoes
- A warm layer
- A rain layer
- A bottle of water
- Gardening gloves (optional – we’ll also provide gloves)
Cleanup Schedule
9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Orientation
Cleanup volunteers will meet at Harbor Park to receive location assignments, pick up cleanup materials, and have a morning snack. Local organizations will be tabling — make sure to say hi!
Coffee from Rock City Coffee and bagels from Good Tern Co-Op are generously sponsored by First National Bank.
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Cleanup
Volunteers will use provided materials to collect, separate, and record trash found at their assigned locations. Collected trash will be loaded into volunteer trucks and transferred to a City dump truck at Harbor Park.
12 p.m. to 1 p.m. – Community Cookout
All volunteers are welcome to enjoy a community cookout at Harbor Park in celebration of the day’s work!
