Virtual Presentation: Marine Mammals of Maine presents A Seal’s Journey
Rockland Public Library will host Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) on Thursday, August 6th at 6:30pm, for a Virtual Talk entitled “A Seal’s Journey.” Jessica Woodend from MMoME will take the audience through a seal’s journey, from stranding to release, covering many of the obstacles in between. The talk will start by addressing some common questions, such as whether it’s normal for seals to be out of the water, and why you might see a baby seal on its own. Woodend will then dive into the details of when and why seals need our help. You will also learn what MMoME is, what they do, the animals they care for, and how you might help.
Jessica Woodend has been a Wildlife Educator throughout the country for the past 13 years, with the last 8 years spent here in Maine. She has been a volunteer with Marine Mammals of Maine for 4 years, and helps with education, animal care, and animal rescue/response.
