Rockland Public Library offers free, filtered web access to wireless devices such as laptops and ebook readers. Users are required to sign the Library's internet use policy, available at the reference desk. At that point they are given the password for the wireless network.
Interactions on the wireless network are not encrypted and could be intercepted. Avoid entering confidential information unless you are sure the web site you are interacting with provides its own security mechanism, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encoding. This is indicated by a small lock icon at the bottom of your browser.
- Printing is available only from hard-wired library workstations.
- Customers are responsible for configuring their own equipment.
- Be prepared to use your laptop battery. Electric outlets are limited.
- Be courteous to other library users: use headphones when playing audio files.
Use of the wireless connection is entirely at risk of the user. The Rockland Public Library disclaims all liability for loss of confidential information or damages resulting from that loss.
By choosing to use this service, wireless customers agree to adhere to the Library’s Internet Use Policy, posted at workstations and at the reference desk. The Library’s electronic resources may not be used for unlawful purposes or to view illegal content. Violations may result in loss of computer / internet access. Unlawful activities will be dealt with in a serious and appropriate manner.
