  • The Economic and Community Development Department is committed to creating conditions that foster a healthy local economy.  Our goals are to grow and diversify Rockland’s tax base, encourage the creation of jobs and make Rockland the place to do business in Midcoast Maine.  There are a number of projects, programs and initiatives the Department is undertaking to retain and attract businesses and entrepreneurs to Rockland and assist businesses to startup and expand.

    Site Searches for Businesses

    Do you want to startup, relocate or expand your business in Rockland?  The Economic and Community Development Department can assist in identifying sites to meet the needs of your business.  We work in partnership with local real estate brokers and property owners to match businesses with appropriate sites.     Assistance with Licensing & Permitting

    The Department helps businesses navigate the City’s regulatory requirements.  We can provide you guidance and connect you with the support you need to help guide your business through this process.

    Technical Assistance for Businesses

    The Department works in partnership with organizations that provide free business counselling services.  We can connect you with business Counselors from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Maine Stream Finance.

    Business Financing
