9.20.23 Public Services is actively picking up storm debris at this time. They are starting in the south end and working north.
Reminder: Taxes are due Friday, September 29th and City Hall closes at noon. Payments postmarked by September 29th will not be subject to penalty. Payments may also be dropped in the lockbox outside the front door of City Hall. Thank you!
8.23.23 The recycle hopper and residential hopper have changed. They are clearly marked and any questions please see attendant.
On July 1, 2022 Transfer Station permits are increasing. $145.00 for a Resident Permit and $20.00 for a Second Sticker.
AS OF MAY 1ST, 2023 CITY HALL HOURS WILL CHANGE TO 7:30 AM TO 5:00 PM MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, AND 7:30 AM TO NOON ON FRIDAY.
FALL LEAF AND BRUSH PICK-UP 2023 The Public Services Department will be collecting garden debris/brush and leaves beginning the week of November 6, 2023. The crew will be making just one trip through the City to pick up garden debris/brush, so please have it placed for pick up by 7 AM on Nov. 6, 2023. Pick-up times will be 7 AM to 3 PM on weekdays. GARDEN DEBRIS/BRUSH will be taken if PLACED SEPARATELY from leaves along the edge of the sidewalk/street. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE STREET OR SIDEWALK LEAVES Should be raked into piles along the edge of the sidewalk/street and should be covered with a tarp or weighted material. If you would rather bring your brush and leaves to the transfer station there is no charge for the month of November. Keeping the leaf piles separate from the debris/brush piles helps us to properly recycle these items and makes the process more efficient. Please remember not to block any sidewalks or roadways.   • Council meeting agenda coordination

    The City Clerk coordinates the preparation and distribution of all City Council Agendas.

    Public Records

    The City Clerk is the “keeper of the record” and provides public access to all official records of the Council actions (minutes, ordinances, resolutions, agreements, etc.) The staff assures protection of and access to records – our archives are a vital information stop for genealogists.  Copies of Vital records are available for the following fees:  Certified Copies are $15.00 for the first copy and $6.00 for each additional copy of the same record ordered at the same time; and $1.00 for non-certified photocopy.  Fees for copies of other records are $1.00 for the first page and $.25 for each additional page.

    Information Dissemination

    The Clerk’s Office prepares legal and promotional publications, posts ordinances, notices of public hearings and advisory body vacancies.  In addition, the Clerk is responsible for codification and dissemination of the City’s Municipal Code and related policies.

    Ministerial Duties

    The City Clerk administers oaths of office, attests and seals official documents, receives and files all petitions, appeals, claims and lawsuits against the City.  The City Clerk is also the Supervisor of all elections that take place in the City.

    Statements of Economic Interest

    The City Clerk is the filing official for all state and local financial disclosure statements, which inlcude Statements of Economic Interest for members of the City Council, designated employees and certain advisory body members, and campaign disclosure statements for all candidates and campaign committees.

    Advisory Bodies

    The City Clerk coordinates all appointments by the Mayor, as confirmed by the City Council, to City advisory bodies.

    Licenses & Permits

    The City Clerk issues State of Maine Hunting and Fishing Licenses, State of Maine Dog Licenses and various Municipal Business Licenses and Permits.

    Marriage Licenses

    The City Clerk can receive marriage license applications and issue licenses. For more information and how to apply, click here.
