Officer Addison Cox has been awarded the Silver Star of Bravery Award of the National Award Program of the American Police Hall of Fame.   Chief Boucher nominated Officer Cox for this award in recognition that on February 12, 2018 Officer Addison Cox was the first emergency responder to an apartment fire and confirmed the apartment was on fire with flames coming from a second story window.  Officer Cox made contact with a male and removed him to a safe distance the parking lot.  Officer Cox then ran to other apartments and started pounding on the doors and yelling to the occupants to evacuate.  Officer Cox ran back to the apartment that was on fire when he was told a woman was still inside.  Officer Cox physically removed the woman after she tried to return to the apartment for her belongings and get her to safety.  Officer Cox continued to run to apartments and assist in removing the remaining occupants.
