  • Talk: The North Pond Hermit & Restorative Justice

    Maeghan Maloney

Please join Representative Pinny Beebe-Center and Kennebec and Somerset County District Attorney Maeghan Maloney for a discussion of the book: The Stranger in the Woods: The True Story of the North Pond Hermit. Christopher Knight spent 27 years living in the Maine woods as a hermit, surviving by breaking into people’s camps for food and sleeping bags and clothes. For decades, no one could determine who was committing the burglaries until April 2013 when he was apprehended breaking into the kitchen of the Pine Tree Camp for disabled children. Learn about Christopher Knight’s journey through the criminal justice system, the restorative justice program he entered, and what similar programs are available in our community.
