The crew will be making just one trip through the City to pick up garden debris/brush, so please have it placed for pick up by 7 AM on Nov. 6, 2023. Pick-up times will be 7 AM to 3 PM on weekdays. GARDEN DEBRIS/BRUSH will be taken if PLACED SEPARATELY from leaves along the edge of the sidewalk/street. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE STREET OR SIDEWALK LEAVES Should be raked into piles along the edge of the sidewalk/street and should be covered with a tarp or weighted material. If you would rather bring your brush and leaves to the transfer station there is no charge for the month of November. Keeping the leaf piles separate from the debris/brush piles helps us to properly recycle these items and makes the process more efficient. Please remember not to block any sidewalks or roadways. If you have any questions, please call Rockland Public Services at 207-594-0320.

  • Raising Guide Dogs: A Presentation by Pat Webber

A local group of puppy raisers from Guiding Eyes for the Blind will be speaking about the process of  raising a future guide dog and some of the qualities of a potential guide dog. Guiding Eyes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and provides guide dogs to people with vision loss with all services provided completely free to the recipient. Puppy raisers are a big step in that process as they offer loving homes, food, and lots of opportunity to learn as the dogs grow. Guiding Eyes provides training, vet costs, preventative monthly meds, and a crate.

Pat Webber is a long-time puppy raiser as well as a retired Guiding Eyes Regional Manager and will offer additional tips for when you meet a guide dog or pup on program and how you might assist a visually impaired person you meet. Join us to learn more about the vital role that guide dogs, and the puppy raisers that work with them, fulfill in our community!
