  • “Painting in Lime City” – A Talk by Leith MacDonald, Co-Sponsored with the Rockland Historical Society

Did you know that the Rockland Historical Society informed the research behind the Farnsworth’s summer exhibition, titled “Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth: Rockland, Maine”? Open through August 27th, the show brings a group of watercolors by two iconic American artists back to the city that inspired them with its buildings, landscapes, and historic industries. You can learn more about the exhibition here: https://www.farnsworthmuseum.org/exhibition/edward-hopper-and-andrew-wyeth-rockland-maine/. Leith MacDonald, the exhibition’s curator and Rockland Historical Society Board member, will share an inside perspective on discoveries he made about the linked practice of Hopper and Wyeth.

Local artist and educator, Leith MacDonald has written about art, curated numerous exhibitions, and is President of the board of the Monhegan Artist’s Residency.

Following Leith’s talk, we will adjourn to the Rockland Historical Society Museum for lemonade, cookies, and conversation.
