FALL LEAF AND BRUSH PICK-UP 2023 The Public Services Department will be collecting garden debris/brush and leaves beginning the week of November 6, 2023. The crew will be making just one trip through the City to pick up garden debris/brush, so please have it placed for pick up by 7 AM on Nov. 6, 2023. Pick-up times will be 7 AM to 3 PM on weekdays. GARDEN DEBRIS/BRUSH will be taken if PLACED SEPARATELY from leaves along the edge of the sidewalk/street. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE STREET OR SIDEWALK LEAVES Should be raked into piles along the edge of the sidewalk/street and should be covered with a tarp or weighted material. If you would rather bring your brush and leaves to the transfer station there is no charge for the month of November. Keeping the leaf piles separate from the debris/brush piles helps us to properly recycle these items and makes the process more efficient. Please remember not to block any sidewalks or roadways. If you have any questions, please call Rockland Public Services at 207-594-0320.

  • Friends of Rockland Library “Festival of Trees” Auction

The Friends of Rockland Public Library are holding their annual “Festival of Trees” Silent Auction. There will be  over 30 tabletop trees on display, generously decorated by local businesses. Come visit the Library, all decked out for the holidays. Bidding starts at 1:00, and ends at 4:00. Stop in, have a warm cup of cocoa or cider, a treat (baked by our amazing Friends Bakers), and bid on your favorite tree(s)!

The decorated trees will be “silent auctioned” off in conjunction with The Historic Inns of Rockland Holiday Tour, which takes place from 1:00 – 4:00. During the tour, people can visit the inns in the neighborhood of the library. Stop in at the LimeRock Inn, the Berry Manor Inn, and the Granite Inn. The inns will be decorated for the season, as a part of the Downtown Rockland Festival of Lights Celebration. All proceeds from the Tree Auction and House Tour will go directly to support our wonderful Rockland Public Library.

As if hot cocoa, a warm fire in the fireplace, and our Tree Auction isn’t enough reason to stop by the library, on this same day, the Book Stop will have extended holiday shopping hours, from 10:00 – 4:00. Save a tree, support the library and buy gently used, excellent condition books! We have all genres! Books, DVDs, CDs, and audio books: all for $5 or less.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity of the many businesses that happily agreed to decorate a tree for this fundraiser. Community support for our Library has never been so strong. The Friends of Rockland Public Library work tirelessly to raise both money and public awareness to support the Library. Want to have a great time right now while supporting the library? Come to the Historic Inns Holiday House Tour and the Festival of Trees Silent Auction on Saturday, November 24th. We look forward to seeing you there!
