Ann Rafferty, Friends’ Bake Boss, and Judy Grossman, former Friends board member.

The Friends of Rockland Public Library will present a Spring Clearance book and bake sale on Saturday, March 28, at the Rockland Public Library. Proceeds of the sale will support the Friends’ activities, which include library cards for Knox County students, all children’s and young adult books, computers and computer maintenance, interlibrary loan services, and Thursday evening adult programming.

The book sale will be held in the Community Room, in the Library’s lower level, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. More than 3,000 gently used books will be on sale in all subjects, including a selection of classic literature for children, coffee table books, and contemporary works. Cost is $10 per bag, (please bring your own bag). Members of Friends of Rockland Public Library are invited to shop first, from 8:30 until 9 a.m. Anyone interested in joining or renewing their Friends membership may do so at the door. The Book Stop will be open from 8:30 – 1:00 as well.

Delectable pies, cakes and other baked goods made by Friends members and other library supporters will be for sale outside the Community Room from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Said the French writer Voltaire: “Let us read and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.”
