  • Birding on Monhegan Island with Don Reimer

    Don Reimer

    Bird author and photographer Don Reimer will present a program about scenic Monhegan Island. Renowned as a birding hot spot and artist retreat, the program will highlight some of the 336 species of birds that have been recorded on the island.
    Don Reimer is a birder and writer residing in Warren. A board member of Mid-Coast Audubon Society, and Friends of Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge in Rockland, he has led field excursions for local environmental organizations, the American Birding Association National Convention, and Acadia Birding Festival. His bi-monthly column “Birding with Don Reimer” has appeared in the Rockland Free Press since 2007. A book highlighting six-decades of birding experiences, Seen Anything Good?, was published in 2020 and was chosen as a finalist for the 2021 John N. Cole Award for Maine Nonfiction.
    This event will take place in the Community Room and will be livestreamed via Zoom. For more information or for Zoom links, please email elewis@rocklandmaine.gov by 4 p.m. on February 1.
