  • The Rockland Police Department is excited to announce the first-ever Rockland Police Department Citizens Police Academy. The 10-week program will begin on March 6. This exciting new program furthers the Department’s continued commitment to community-oriented policing. To offer residents a closer look into how the Rockland Police Department operates and serves its community every day, the Citizens Police Academy will introduce the public to their officers, and cover a variety of topics, including the history of policing, Maine law, patrol procedures, criminal investigative techniques, evidence recovery, our K-9 program and more! Each academy participant will also receive some basic hands-on training. The deadline for applying is February 26, at 5 p.m.

The Rockland Police Department believes that by giving citizens a better understanding of law enforcement, the criminal justice system and working with our community, they can better protect and serve the citizens of Rockland. This is a great opportunity for not just those looking to get into the career field but anyone who has ever had an interest in learning more about law enforcement.

The 10-week program starts March 6 and will consist of a 3-hour class every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks. Spots are limited and Rockland residents will get priority. To apply, download an application (using the link below) or pick up an application in person at the Rockland Police Department, 1 Police Plaza Rockland Maine. The deadline for applying is February 26 at 5 p.m.
