The Rockland Police Department will be participating in the the National “Click it or Ticket” Campaign. Maine State law states that drivers and passengers must be properly secured in safety belts. National Traffic Highway Safety Administration dictates that properly is with the lap belt across the pelvic bone and the shoulder strap over the shoulder. Having the shoulder strap under your arm or behind your back is not properly warn and therefore is a violation of the State of Maine requirement. Fines start at $85.00 and increase with each violation.
