Reading Room Concert: Solace, Hospice Choir
The a cappella group, founded in 2010, will provide information about its mission of singing for those nearing the end of life and for their families and loved ones. A sampling of the types of gentle music offered–lullabies, folk songs, hymns, Taize chants and more–will also be part of the program.
For a decade, Solace made visits, by invitation, to offer quiet “sings” in private homes, hospital rooms, nursing homes and Sussman House. On hiatus during the pandemic, the group has reconvened and has been rehearsing regularly for several months. It is now available to resume its mission.
The choir’s musical director is Charlie Grey, and currently there are a dozen other singers. A smaller number usually participates in a given sing, depending on circumstances. Flexibility, sensitivity and confidentiality are hallmarks of the group.
Brochures with contact information will be available.
