Gone Before: An Evening of Epitaphs in Song and Story
Join Deputy Library Director Patty King as she shares her multi-year project of exploring cemeteries to find epitaphs which she crafts into songs. Epitaphs are a phrase or form of words written in memory of a person who has died, especially as an inscription on a tombstone. Patty will sing a selection of these songs, accompanied by Peter Proeller on banjo and Joanna Pinkham on recorder and guitar. Woven throughout the presentation will be cemetery photography and details about the lives of the people whose epitaphs she shares. She will also discuss the origins of some of these poetic phrases and her connection to epitaphs and cemeteries.
