Film Screening & Talk : Winged Migration
Co-sponsored with Friends of Maine Coastal Islands NWR. We will screen Winged Migration with an introductory talk about how biologists act as detectives, employing old school and new technology to track birds. Open your eyes to the wonders of the natural world as you fly along with the world’s most gorgeous birds in the 2001 documentary Winged Migration. Five film crews followed a rich variety of bird migrations through 40 countries and each of the seven continents. Cinematographers used planes, gliders, helicopters and balloons to fly alongside, above, below and in front of the birds. Part of Friends of Maine Coastal Islands NWR’s week-long celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week and the Centennial of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
