    ***Attention voters***

    Absentee ballots for the November 5, 2024 state, general, and annual municipal elections will be available approximately 30 days prior to Election Day.  You can request absentee ballots beginning August 5, 2024

    • either in person at the city clerk’s office
    • by calling the city clerk’s office at (207) 594-0304 and speaking to a staff person (you cannot request a ballot by leaving a message)
    • or on the state’s website at maine.gov by filling out and printing an application to submit to the clerk’s office, or using the state’s absentee ballot request service.

    Absentee ballots cannot be requested via email or any other electronic means. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot is the close of business on Thursday, October 31, 2024.  After that date, only persons with one of the following special circumstances may request an absentee ballot:

    • An unexpected absence from the city during the entire time that the polls are open on election day, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.;
    • Self-certification as a voter with a physical or mental disability;
    • An incapacity or illness that has resulted in the voter’s being unable to leave home or treatment facility or has resulted in the voter’s caregiver being unable to attend the polls during the entire time the polls are open on Election Day, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    Absentee ballots must be received in the city clerk’s office no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 5, 2024, to be counted.  Questions:  call the clerk’s office at (207) 594-0304.

    You may download and print the Application for Absentee Ballot here to submit to the Clerk’s office. As stated previously, you may not submit this application via email.
