  • “Trends and Outlooks for Maine’s Workforce and Economy” – A Camden Conference Community Event with Amanda Rector, Maine’s State Economist

    The Camden Conference presents, in co-operation with the Rockland Public Library, Maine State Economist Amanda Rector on Thursday, November 3 at 6:30pm. Please contact Em Lewis, elewis@rocklandmaine.gov for information on registration for this in-person event.

    Maine State Economist Amanda Rector will discuss recent trends in Maine’s demographics, workforce, and economic conditions. Topics will range from migration and housing to labor force participation and impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. Maine is affected by national factors like inflation as well as global factors like supply chains and energy prices; how will these influence Maine’s economic outlook?

    Amanda Rector is the State Economist for Maine. In this capacity, she conducts ongoing analysis of Maine’s economic and demographic conditions to help inform policy decisions. She started working for the state in 2004 and has been State Economist since 2011. She earned a BA in Economics from Wellesley College and a Masters in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.

    Amanda holds membership on the State of Maine’s Revenue Forecasting Committee, the advisory board for the New England Public Policy Center at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and the Board of Visitors at the Muskie School of Public Service. Amanda also serves as the Governor’s liaison to the U.S. Census Bureau.

    Amanda is originally from mid-coast Maine and now lives in Union with her family.

    The mission of the Camden Conference is to foster informed discourse on world issues.

    This event will take place in-person, in the library’s Community Room. Seating is first-come, first served.There is a  Zoom option.
