This year the Lobster Trap Tree Lighting Celebration will be broadcast online via live stream on the Rockland City Website, at https://rocklandmaine.gov/. This is to avoid the health risks that can come with crowds these days, and the City of Rockland has asked that there be no gathering or parade.

The tree lighting will start at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, concluding at 7:30 p.m.

A new event this year is the Elfie Scavenger hunt.

Each week between Thanksgiving and Christmas, five elves will be Missing on Main Street, and participants will be tasked with finding them. The elves could be in any downtown business, so it will be important to pick up clue cards from local businesses for hints as to where the elves can be found.

The story of the missing elves with be posted at Santa’s Workshop, from Nov. 28. Downtown businesses will have special elf promotions and menu items, to enhance the elfish theme.

Once you locate all the missing elves, simply drop off your completed clue card back at Santa’s Workshop by the tree, using Santa’s Mailbox. Each week the owner of a randomly selected correct clue card will win a fun surprise gift.

The annual raffle for the traps in the Lobster Trap Tree, or a cash prize, is already underway. This year the tickets can be purchased online. Go to https://go.rallyup.com/lobster-trap-tree to buy a ticket for $50, or three for $100, through New Year’s Eve. The prize drawing is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Jan. 3.
